Alicante to Host the Second Edition of the International Basketball HUB Festival in 2026

Registrations and sponsorship opportunities are now open for one of Europe’s most internationally diverse basketball development events

ALICANTE, Spain — Alicante is set to become a global basketball meeting point once again as the International Basketball HUB Festival returns for its second edition from August 24–29, 2026. Following a highly successful inaugural event, the festival is coming back with an expanded international program, increased participation, and new development opportunities for players, coaches, academies, and basketball organizations worldwide.

Organized by Lucentum Basket Academy, the international development division of Fundación Lucentum Alicante — the professional basketball club competing in Spain’s Primera FEB league — the six-day event will bring together players, coaches, academies, scouts, clubs, and federations from across the globe for elite training, competition, networking, and international collaboration.

A Proven International Concept

The inaugural 2025 edition established the Basketball HUB Festival as a genuine international basketball gathering, welcoming more than 100 players and coaches from 17 countries.

Institutional participants included some of the most respected organizations in world basketball, such as:

  • Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA)
  • Zalgiris Kaunas (EuroLeague)
  • Cedevita Olimpija (EuroCup)
  • Venados de Mazatlán (Mexico)
  • Newcastle Eagles (United Kingdom)
  • National Federations of the Czech Republic, Ghana, and Tanzania
  • Leading academies from Poland, Sweden, and the United States
  • Fundación Lucentum Alicante

The event successfully created an environment where athletes, coaches, and basketball organizations could connect, compete, and build long-term international relationships.

A Bigger and More International 2026 Edition

Building on the momentum of its debut year, the 2026 edition will introduce a more structured and internationally focused program designed to maximize exposure and development opportunities.

Key additions include:

  • Official NBA Draft Combine-style evaluations
  • An expanded international delegation featuring more clubs, federations, and academies
  • 3×3 and 5×5 competition formats
  • Individual skill development and shooting sessions
  • Exposure pathways connecting players with NCAA programs and professional clubs around the world

The festival aims to provide participants with a unique platform to showcase their talent while gaining direct access to international basketball opportunities.

A Global Platform for Brands and Sponsors

The International Basketball HUB Festival also presents a unique opportunity for companies and brands seeking direct engagement with a highly targeted international basketball audience.

Sponsorship packages include on-site branding, digital exposure, social media visibility, and association with an event already supported by organizations connected to the NBA, EuroLeague, and EuroCup ecosystems.

With players, coaches, federations, academies, and clubs from multiple continents gathering in Alicante for an entire week, the festival offers a powerful platform for international visibility and business networking.

Three Venues Across Alicante Province

The 2026 edition will be hosted across three premier basketball facilities in the province of Alicante:

  • Pedro Ferrándiz Arena – Sports Technification Center, Alicante
  • Nuevo San Vicente Arena, San Vicente del Raspeig
  • Pau Gasol Arena, L’Alfàs del Pi

These venues will serve as the stage for training sessions, evaluations, competitions, and networking activities throughout the festival week.

A Unique Event in European Basketball

According to Ionuț Georgescu, Chief Operating Officer of Fundación Lucentum Alicante, the response from the international basketball community has already exceeded expectations.

“We already have 90% of the participating organizations confirmed for Alicante, and we are looking forward to announcing the full list very soon. What surprised us the most is that, even before officially opening registrations, we had already received more than 40 applications from players and coaches eager to secure their place. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to bring an event like this to the Alicante community — an event that, because of its structure and format, is truly unique.”

Building a Global Basketball Community

Behind the festival stands International Basketball HUB, a growing basketball network currently connecting 43 members across 39 countries and five continents. The initiative fosters collaboration between players, coaches, clubs, academies, and federations worldwide.

Meanwhile, Lucentum Basket Academy continues to strengthen its position as one of Spain’s leading basketball development programs. The academy includes more than 20 teams and 35 coaches and specialists, while its roster features over 30 international male and female players, many of whom also represent their countries at youth national team level.
